Top Rocks

Ok, so I promise my honesty, so when I designated this group separate from the others, you have to understand that individually, all of these plates are perfectly fine. I do not sell seconds on this website. The next thing you have to understand is that the softness of this form belies a precision of design that simply cannot tolerate any kind of warp in any direction. The third thing you need to understand is that all of this whole tab of offerings is a giant R&D for making them commercially available in white. As such, they were put through the most insane (woodfire) environment, not to mention being made of a clay that would not usually be used in a factory environment.

All that as context, this group is (again), perfectly fine individually. A plate with three feet will not rock. But this group doesn’t stack nicely, so if you buy them, don’t stack them more than eight high unless you want to freak out your staff. Or you could stack them with a little round pad inbetween. The problem lies in a slight warpage at the edges (that arc of the edge between the feet) that translates to the way one plate meets the other in a stack. Its just par for the course in the R&D to have some learning. It actually might have happened in the forming process. Hard to know, but either way, they got final-fired, and now they are a group half-off. The warp is nothing a customer will notice. I’ll quantify that: 1/4” max. It’s only the staff who will be wondering what kind of jenga they signed up for.

specs:

15 are available. I am more open to breaking this group, but fifteen is still a nice number for someone out there, so give me a sec, thanks

…yes, they can go through the industrial washer. The painting is embedded in the clay.

*at the risk of repeating myself as you go shopping: for the moment, I am keeping groups intact, because I am reaching out to restaurants only with this page of offerings. Please let me know if you are interested in breaking a group and I will make a note and keep you informed. But quite importantly! I love commissions. If you want work in white porcelain, talk to me :) I can’t make these cloud plates in white but I can order them by the hundred plus. (as you might guess, the price drops by volume) All this woodfired work is super-rare and I won’t be making it again in this way, if ever.
